Brunswick Stew

Yesterday my husband and I went to my first Brunswick Stew cooking. College Hill Presbyterian Church was cooking and selling the stew to raise money for their mission work. The stew was cooked outdoors in iron pots over wood fires.

We took a turn at stirring.

The stew is done when the paddle will stand up by itself.

We bought two quarts and headed home. We had it for supper with cornbread cooked in my great-grandmother's skillet. It was a feast fit for a king.
